Overnight Parking Considerations

Overnight Parking Considerations
Step 1 of 4

You can leave a vehicle in a legal parking spot overnight up to 15 times per year.

This includes city streets and these uptown lots:

You must register before 2:15 a.m. on the night of the exemption.

Unregistered vehicles left on streets or lots between 2:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. will be ticketed.

You will get an email confirmation of the registration.

Your overnight parking registration ends at 6 a.m. After that, regular parking rules and time limits apply.

You must follow all parking rules, even if you register for overnight parking.

You cannot park overnight:

  • during a snow event
  • in an area affected by a community safety event
  • in city parking lots other than those listed
  • where signs say No Parking, No Stopping or Emergency No Parking
  • in areas where parking is for permit holders only
  • facing the wrong direction on a street
  • where your vehicle blocks traffic or people walking
  • on a sidewalk or boulevard
  • in front of a fire hydrant or bus stop
